‘Battle Of the Sexes’ Steve Carell and Emma Stone
Fox Searchlight’s ‘Battle Of The Sexes’ is a film depiction of two famous tennis players that come together on the court to settle the score in the most controversial match of the sport. Famed men’s pro Bobbie Briggs, played by Steve Carell, sets out on a mission to end a campaign lead by his competitor, famed women’s champion Billie Jean King, played by Emma Stone, who fights for women tennis players to receive equal pay to men in the league. Brigg’s potential win would help give him the leverage needed to promote the idea that men are more superior in the game of tennis, and more deserving of higher earnings than women. Carrel and Stone portrayals are amazing, as well as their performance on the court! The artistic direction was another big plus. The authenticity of the scenes and costumes captured the true era of the early 1970’s making the movie very realistic. The story keeps you engaged from start to finish, and highlights the exciting battle scene in the last 30 minutes of the 2 hour flick which ends with a momentous and victorious finish! I definitely see trophies in ‘Battles’ future! On a scale from 1 to 10, I give this movie a 10!!!
